There are two different way to go about fixing you leaking shower faucet:

The first way: Call a plumber. This may be more expensive than doing it yourself but it is also less likely to result in your bathroom being flooded.

The second way: Do it yourself. Here are step-by-step instructions on fixing that pesky leaky shower faucet.

Step One: First you need to shut off the water going to your shower. This cannot be stressed enough as most go getters forget this crucial first step and as I noted above, wind up with a flooded bathroom and a lot more problems on their hands. You can turn off the water in different locations depending on if you live in an apartment or a private house. You can find water valves inside the bathroom itself or in the basement.

Step Two: Unscrew the faucet and allow it to drain any remaining water that is there.

Step Three: Remove the faucet handle itself, preferably using a screw driver. If it does not come off because it is stuck, take out some of your frustration by giving it a few hits of the hammer and it should come unstuck.

Step Four: Replace the rubber gasket inside of the faucet.

Step Five: Once you put in the new gasket, ensure that it is a perfect fit and it does not come unstuck in any part.

Step Six: Re-attach the faucet handle.

Step Seven: Turn on the water and see if you have fixed it. You may need to screw the handle on a little tighter.

Step Eight: If you have not solved the problem, it is time to swallow your pride and call in a professional who wears his pants a little too low for comfort.
